Capacity Building for Indonesian Primary Care Teachers

The aims of this project are:

  1. To support 38 Master Trainers in Primary Care Medicine from 18 universities to establish the first 5 Primary Care Residency Programs in Indonesia.
  2. To pilot the start of the PCP-training during the internship period to find out whether it holds a promise for speeding up the formation of committed PCPs.


During this project 38 Primary Care Physicians teachers of the National Board of Indonesian Primary Care Physicians will be trained to become Master Trainers of Primary Care Medicine Residency Program. They come from 18 Universities in Indonesia and will establish 5 Primary Care residency training centers *). The expected results are:

  1. 1.an unique Indonesian PCP curriculum developed
  2. 2.teaching skills and knowledge acquired by Master PCPs to train other trainers
  3. 1.specific adaptations curriculum for GPs and internship students made
  4. 2.enrolment of pilot group Interns in PCP programme
     

It is expected that graduates from these 5 residencies will eventually assist in establishing additional residencies at the 13 other A-accreditation universities in collaboration with Family Medicine Experts from B accredited Faculty of Medicine of the 72 medical schools in Indonesia.

In January 2017 a MOU for Family Medicine with UIN Alauddin (Makkasar), UIN Suska (Pekanbaru) and UIN Raden Fatah (Palembang).

*) Sumatra (University of Sriwijaya, Palembang),  Jakarta in collaboration with West Java and Kalimantan (University of Indonesia, Jakarta), Java West (University of Padjajaran, Bandung), Java-Middle (University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta), Java-East in collaboration with Bali and Nusa Tenggara (University of Airlangga). Sulawesi in collaboration with Eastern Indonesia (University of Hassanuddin, Makssar)
